Nuna Triv vs. Swiv: The Medium-Size Dilemma

City sidewalks, tight coffee shop corners, and stairs—your stroller needs to handle it all while keeping your little one secure and cozy. So, which one does it better: the Nuna Triv Next or the Nuna Swiv? At Tadpole, we know that choosing the right stroller is a big decision and we're here to help you make informed choices by breaking down the key differences.

The Nuna TRIV Next has long been the darling of city dwellers. Lightweight (~20 lbs) and agile, it has a sleek profile that makes strolling through crowded streets breezy. Its compact fold ensures that even the smallest apartment corners can accommodate it. However, when folded, the Triv tends to topple over, which can be a tad inconvenient (and fabric touching the ground is not ideal).

Enter the Nuna SWIV -- one of the new favorites among our Boston customers since its launch last year. Building upon the Triv's foundation, the Swiv introduces a game-changing feature: 360-degree 4 swivel wheels (think of a rolling suitcase). This innovation allows for side-to-side motion and instant pivot navigation, making tight spaces and sharp corners less daunting. The Swiv also stands tall when folded, a small but significant victory in the storage hustle. Its reinforced, sturdier frame provides enhanced stability, despite smaller wheels. Swiv's basket is larger than the Triv's and Swiv also comes with a few extra accessories (cup holder, rain cover and carry bag) which all comes with a heftier price tag of $900(vs. $700 for the Triv Next). You can watch our quick comparison video below which highlights these differences.

Both strollers are compatible with all Nuna Pipa infant car seats and the Lytl Bassinet + Stand. All Nuna strollers now feature a MagneTech secure snap buckle, a self-guiding magnetic buckle that automatically locks into place, adding a touch of modern convenience. However, the straps on all Nuna's (including the Triv and the Swiv) could be improved. Flat design of the straps can sometimes make securing your little one a bit of a fishing expedition, especially when dealing with a wiggly passenger.

When it comes to maintenance, both strollers feature removable seat inserts made from Merino wool and Tencel lyocell, providing ultra-soft comfort for your child. These inserts can be easily removed for cleaning, and once removed the seats feature more mesh, useful for warmer days.

So, which one should you choose? If the allure of enhanced maneuverability and a sturdier frame resonates with you, and you’re willing to invest the extra $200, the Nuna Swiv might just be your perfect match. Its innovative features and thoughtful design cater to the dynamic demands of city life. However, if you prioritize a more budget-friendly option, the Triv Next remains a commendable choice.

At the end of the day, both strollers are winners in their own right. Here at Tadpole, we’re happy to help you test-drive either option and find the one that feels just right for you. Swing by when you're ready and take them for a spin!
